Sudbury Mayor Declares March Polio Awareness Month
February 27, 2007 --
On February 27, 2007, the City of Sudbury declared March as Polio Awareness
Month. Deputy Mayor Ron Dupuis and members of city council were joined by polio
survivors for the Declaration, which took place in Tom Davies Square.
Polio Awareness Month is a national initiative to raise awareness of Polio and
Post-Polio Syndrome in Canada.
Since its launch in 2003, Polio Canada and its National Polio Survivors
Network, have been educating health care professionals and polio survivors,
offering them resources on the late effects of polio and post-polio syndrome.
